Facts & parity

Atomic propositions and how visible HTML agrees or conflicts with machine representations.

Open testMethodologyAll terms

Atomic fact

A subject · predicate · object proposition the source supports, with provenance and modality preserved.

Interrogatives are not asserted facts. Qualifiers, polarity, quantifiers, and modality (asserted / capability / possibility / planned) survive when detected.

Under-extraction is preferred to unsupported inference.

Assertion mode (explicit / inferred)

Whether the proposition was stated outright or inferred under fail-closed rules.

Inferred facts carry higher recovery cost and weaker trust. Modality can force inferred even when text looks assertive.

Parity status

Also: MATCHED, CONTRADICTORY, HUMAN_ONLY, MACHINE_ONLY, AMBIGUOUS, STALE

Agreement class between visible HTML facts and machine-layer facts for the same subject·predicate.

MATCHED: both sides; normalized objects overlap. CONTRADICTORY: both sides; values conflict. HUMAN_ONLY / MACHINE_ONLY: one side only.

AMBIGUOUS: both sides present without clear overlap and without escalation to conflict (scope/quantifier differences often land here).

STALE: temporal expiry conflicts with newer price-like claims in the group.

On the report Fact parity ladder

  • Qualifier/scope differences do not auto-escalate to CONTRADICTORY.

Provenance

Whether the fact’s origin is known (PROVENANCE_KNOWN) or unknown (often inferred).

The Provenance leaf score is the share of facts with known provenance. The ledger column “unknown provenance” counts PROVENANCE_UNKNOWN rows.
